Functioning of the Brain and the Mind

In the article called the 'Mind, Brain and Consciousness' written by a neurologist called Jacob Sage talks about how the functioning of the brain and the mind intersects. Sage calls the people who do not believe these two branches of philosophy and neurology function together a dualist. Since Jacob Sage is a neurologist he says that he has witnessed so many brain illnesses causing mental disfunctionings. He gives examples on how brain diseases have effected the mental apraxia such as at the incident of Gabrielle Giffords if her brain function does not heal from the bullet injury her mental functioning not heal fully also. If the brain was more damaged Sage says that she wouldnt be fully conscious. This shows how the brain and the mind works directly proportional. If she does not recover from the brain incident this will effect her role and  her function in the Congress.
He believes that "consciousness is nothing more than the ability of our brain to acquire information (which is the state of being awake)." He believes that if the brain is functioning fully a person would be conscious of the blue sky and the red sun. The 'neuronal configuration' provide us to see the blue rather that red. This concludes that the functioning brain is identical to the conscious mind.
